OCTOBER 27, 2016—SALT LAKE CITY—Dr. Jordan Schaeffer, orthopedic surgeon at Hofmann Arthritis Institute and the Center for Precision Joint Replacement at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, receives the 2016 Community Champions Award from Molina Healthcare of Utah. This award honors individuals who work closely with the community and inspire others through leadership, volunteerism, and public advocacy. Dr. Schaeffer was selected by a panel of judges for his medical service and contributions with Operation Walk and Operation Walk Utah.
Molina Healthcare of Utah held a Community Champions awards ceremony this month, where several organizations came together to celebrate the award recipients and the impact they make on their communities every day. As part of the ninth annual Community Champions Award, Molina Healthcare of Utah also made a charitable donation of $1,000 to Operation Walk Utah as a way to assist the organization’s mission of providing no-cost joint replacement surgeries to patients in developing countries and the United States.

Operation Walk Utah is a private, not-for- profit volunteer medical service chapter of the national organization, Operation Walk USA. All chapters of Operation Walk USA provide free surgical treatment to patients with debilitating arthritis or other bone and joint conditions in developing countries and the United States. Operation Walk USA has established an international presence and continues to grow. All medical supplies and equipment are provided through donations, and the entire medical team on staff volunteers its time.
