Maternity Services
We are here to help you find what you need.
  • About ServiceABOUT
  • ResourcesRESOURCES
We provide all the necessary support from the beginning stage of pregnancy to the latest educational classes, to that most precious moment—your delivery day.

The Center is comprised of beautifully remodeled, private suites, that are ready to accommodate you and your family in a comfortable and safe environment.

  • Eight spacious labor, delivery and recovery suites
  • 16 private postpartum suites
  • Two cesarean birth suites
  • Level II NICU
  • Infant security system
  • Personal care, lactation support and nursing assistance are available for you and your baby in your room, at your request. We also have a fully staffed nursery.

What Does The Salt Lake Regional Maternity Ward Offer?

Perinatal Services

Perinatal Services is comprised of three areas of care: Labor and Delivery (where the birth takes place), Maternal Infant (where you will reside until you go home) and the Newborn Nursery.

Newly Remodeled Private Labor and Delivery Suites
  • Tubs and showers
  • An adjustable birthing bed
  • State-of-the-art monitoring for the baby and mother during labor
  • 24-hour-a-day anesthesia services
  • Cesarean birth suites

Generally, your baby will stay in the room with you while our skilled nurses offer your baby the care he or she requires. During that same time, you will be recovering from delivery, and we will be carefully monitoring your vital signs, comfort level and personal care needs. After one or two hours, you will be transferred to your postpartum room around the corner from your labor room.

Nursery Services

Our nursery is well-equipped to care for your new arrival. If you haven’t selected a physician, a Salt Lake Regional Medical Center pediatrician will be available to see your baby. After discharge, you can continue to see this physician for your child’s care or you may choose another physician.

Safety

We installed the HUGS Infant Protection System to safeguard our infant patients. Each infant wears a small tag around their ankle that contains a tiny microchip. The tag sends a regularly timed message, called a Heartbeat, to indicate that the baby is in a secure area. These messages are relayed to a control computer for constant supervision.

Interpreters

We provide interpreters for patients or guests who speak or understand limited English or for those who are hearing impaired. If you or someone in your party needs an interpreter, please ask your nurse.

Care Packages For New Moms

Candlelight Dinner For Two

You have the option to enjoy a candlelight steak dinner inside your room at a table adorned with a tablecloth and china. Choose from a restaurant-style menu with several entrée choices and top it all off with a decadent dessert. Our chefs can accommodate special requests.

Baby Care Items

When you are a patient at the Women’s Care & Maternity Center, you will receive a complimentary gift including product samples and helpful information. You are also invited to take part in our Women’s Care & Maternity classes.

Purple Crying Booklet

Every new parent faces the possibility that their little one may cry uncontrollably, a very normal phase in infant development. This behavior can be challenging to new parents. Frustration may lead to a very real and serious behavior of shaking your baby, which can cause irreparable brain trauma or even death. Our Purple Crying Program helps new dads and moms understand the warning signs and how to cope. You will have the opportunity to view an educational video and work with our staff to answer any questions.

Best Beginnings Begin With Books

At the Women’s Care & Maternity Center, you will have access to a wealth of information including one-on-one training from nursing and support staff. We have a large library of information and recommended reading materials to help prepare you for pregnancy, childbirth and parenting.

Postpartum Booklet

It is not uncommon for many new mothers to experience challenges with their health and changing body. We believe it is important to have as much information as possible. We will provide you with one-on-one assistance and information to help you through this new phase of life.
